Artistic Doctorate Resources

Artistic Doctorate Resources is a major output of our research. It is an open online tool for PhD students, supervisors, examiners and institutions involved in Artistic Research PhDs in Performing Arts and Film / Screen Media. Mixing pedagogy, policy, propositions for best practice and short reflective exercises, Artistic Doctorate Resources aims to support staff and students navigating the doctoral process in creative fields. Head over to the Resource to get started.

Online Launch

Artistic Doctorate Resources was launched online on the 5 February 2021 with an audience of over 100 doctoral staff and students.

After an overview of Visioning the Future by Jools Gilson (principal investigator), the resource was launched by Vida Midgelow, Director of the Erasmus+ Project Artistic Doctorates in Europe: Third Cycle Provision in Dance & Performance. This was followed by short contributions from Catherine O’Mahony (Director of UCC’s Centre for the Integration of Teaching and Learning) who spoke briefly about the funding context, and Helen Phelan (Chair of IMBAS, the Irish advocacy organisation for Artistic Research) who discussed the resource in the Irish landscape.

Inês Bento-Coelho (postdoctoral researcher) discussed the process of developing the resource and Patrick Egan (web developer) spoke briefly about the visualisation component. Jools and Inês demonstrated the resource and took emerging questions at the end of the session. The video recording of the launch can be watched above.
